GDSX Management Functions
•
The TASK object that is an independent entity running within GDSX and is
responsible for a specific function
•
The LINE object which is a communication line controlled by GDSX
•
The SUBDEVICE (SU) object which is a logical terminal that is known to
application programs and is mapped to a physical terminal by GDSX
The STOPPED and STARTED object states occur in GDSX. Both lines and terminals
can be in these states.
STOPPED indicates that the object is preconfigured and currently dormant. This is
the state of a line or terminal after it is configured.
STARTED is the normal state of a line or terminal. In this state, the system is not
faulted, suspended, or in the process of being stopped.
GDSX Management Functions
GDSX management functions allow you to manage the objects that make up the GDS
subsystem.
The following commands have been provided to enable you to:
•
Define certain characteristics, or attributes, of processes, lines, and subdevices
•
Find out the current values of the attributes of processes, tasks, lines, and
subdevices
•
Determine the current states of processes, tasks, lines, and subdevices
•
Initiate the operation of lines and subdevices
•
Terminate the operation of lines and subdevices
•
Add lines and subdevices to and remove lines and subdevices from the subsystem
•
Control whether or not other applications can open subdevices
•
Change the system resources used by the GDSX processes
•
Obtain statistics about the execution history of processes, tasks, lines, and
subdevices
•
Reinitialize the counters used to save statistics for processes, tasks, lines, and
subdevices
•
Obtain the names of processes, lines, and subdevices known to the subsystem
•
Obtain the process ID of the openers of the process
•
Trace the actions of processes
Using the commands provided, you can also control the following parameters of
GDSX:
