Introduction to the Gigabit Ethernet
4-Port ServerNet Adapter (G4SA)
This section provides an introduction to the Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapter
(G4SA) for I/O adapter module (IOAM) enclosures.
This section includes the following topics:
Overview of the G4SA
The M8800 Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) provides Gigabit
connectivity between NonStop S-series, NonStop NS-series systems, NonStop
BladeSystems, and Ethernet LANs.
Although the G4SA supersedes the ServerNet S-series adapters (E4SA, FESA, and
GESA) and interoperates and coexists with the S-series infrastructure, the G4SA
cannot be directly installed in a NonStop S-series system.
G4SAs are installed in IOAMs located in:
An Integrity NonStop BladeSystem with up to 4 IOAMs supported per system (Only
G4SAs in IOAMs directly installed in BladeSystems are supported for this
configuration.)
An Integrity NonStop NS-series system (two IOAMs are supported per system)
A 19-inch rack connected to a NonStop S-series system (3 IOAMs are supported
per system)
The supported G4SA installation slots differ by system type. To determine the
supported installation slots for your G4SA, see the planning guide for your system (for
example, the Integrity NonStop BladeSystem Planning Guide)
