G4SA Features
The six supported G4SA Ethernet ports are a combination of copper and fiber
interfaces, although only four of these ports can be in use at any one time.
A G4SA can be configured as:
•
Two 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports and two 10/100 Mbps copper ports
•
Two 10/100/1000 Mbps multimode fiber ports and two 10/100 Mbps copper ports
A G4SA is compliant with the 1000 Base-T standard (802.3ab),1000 Base-SX standard
(802.3z), and the following Ethernet LANs:
•
802.3 (10 Base-T)
•
802.1Q (VLAN tag-aware switch)
•
802.3u (Auto negotiate)
•
802.3x (Flow control)
•
802.3u (100 Base-T and 1000 Base-TX)
G4SA Features
•
Supports up to 16 processors concurrently accessing G4SA adapters over fully
fault-tolerant, dual ServerNet X and Y fabric connections.
•
Supports jumbo frames (Parallel Library TCP/IP and NonStop TCP/IPv6 only) up to
a maximum transmission unit (MTU) size of 9,014 bytes.
•
Adjusts automatically (auto-sensing feature) to 10/100/1000 Mbps operation and
provides automatic negotiation for full-duplex or half-duplex transmission.
•
Supports multiple communications protocols, including TCP/IP, Expand/IP,
IPX/SPX, QIO, Port Access Method (PAM), and Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP).
•
Provides an open interface for Asynchronous Wide Area Network (AWAN) and
ServerNet Wide Area Network (SWAN) attachment to a ServerNet interconnect.
The data transfer rate is 10 Mbps for SWAN and 10/100 Mbps for SWAN 2.
•
Is supported by OSM client software to facilitate diagnostics and maintenance.
•
Runs scan diagnostics IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG) on JTAG components.
•
Has a serial EEPROM (SEEROM) that provides:
°
Hardware identification (part number and revision)
°
Manufacturing tracking (serial) number
°
Hardware error data
Note. IPS/SPX is not supported on systems running H-series and J-series RVUs.
Note. AWAN is not supported on systems running J-series RVUs.
