(1) In the optional report for the SYSTEM class, the disk processes are grouped and
given the names “DISC-P,“DISC-B,” or “DISC-T,” depending on whether they
are the primary, backup, or temporary, respectively. Temporary disk processes
are mountable drives which currently have no volume mounted; primary and
backup disk processes are permanently mounted or mountable drives with
volumes mounted.
(2) Processes without a dollar sign ($) as the first character in their name are
standard Guardian system processes.
(3) User-configured processes in the SYSTEM class are collapsed into a common
name space to help make the section more readable. The question mark (?)
character means any single character may replace it. For example, the user-
configured process $TAP?? could include the process names $TAP01, $TAP02,
$TAP23, and $TAPZZ.
(4) The operating system image number that was assigned at the last SYSGEN is
also shown in this section. In this case, its location is
$SYSTEM.SYS20.OSIMAGE.
Note. If an asterisk (*) follows a program name, the program has been executed from different
copies of the object file. The cause of this situation should be investigated because it precludes
code sharing on a CPU.
