CPU Failure Simulation
The negative factors that contribute to lower the system recovery performance score are
the following:
CPU Failure Simulation
Example 4-41 is a detailed report displaying CPU failure simulation. This report gives a
full picture of how the other processors in a system are affected when a processor fails.
Additional CPU and memory demands are detailed.
Failing CPUs are shown in the leftmost column. If CPU 2 were to fail, an additional load
of 13% would fall on CPU 3, plus an additional memory demand of less than one
megabyte.
NEGATIVE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS:
Memory - Memory Shortage
CPU - CPU Cycle Shortage
Notes on System Recovery Performance Score: Good = 90% thru 100%
Fair = 71% thru 89%
Poor = 1% thru 70%
(1) CPU: A processor that can create a CPU cycle shortage to the system; when the
CPU fails, it adds a negative score to the total score.
(2) Memory: A processor that can introduce a memory shortage to the system;
when the CPU fails, it adds a negative score to the total score.
