The GPA Runtime Parameters
The following is a list of parameters in the "OBEYTUNE.101" file. Please note that all
parameters are not required and should be commented out or removed, if not needed.
Also if one of the optional PROCESS-WINDOW… parameters is defined, all the
PROCESS-WINDOW… parameters become mandatory.
PARAM FORCE-LOW-PRIORITY {no | ####} (Optional)
This parameter is used to set the runtime priority of GPA.
Valid values are "NO" or 3 digit priority value. If 'NO' then runtime priority will be same
as user running GPA. Normally param is used to set GPA to a LOWER priority than
user's runtime default.
If omitted, user runtime default priority value is used.
PARAM OVER-BUSY-BY {no | ##.####} (Optional)
This parameter is used to set the percentage (%) for the threshold of Process Busy. This is
subsequently used to make recommendations in the conditional PROCESS MOVE
RECOMMENDATIONS reports. In particular, this param is used for the 'CPU OUT OF
BALANCE' report recommendations. If set to "NO" or an invalid value is entered then
defaults used are "1.0%" for G-Series and "0.5%" for H & J-Series. This means that a
„Process Busy‟ must be greater than value specified to be selected as a candidate for a
process „Move‟ or „Switch‟ recommendation.
If omitted, default value is used.
PARAM SEND-OUTPUT-TO-SPOOLER {y | n} (Required)
This parameter is used to inform GPA if the names defined in REPORT-FILE and
OPTIONAL-FILE parameters are a spooler name or a file name. The default value is
"Y". If 'Y' the REPORT-FILE and OPTIONAL-FILE params must be a valid spooler
name. If 'N' then REPORT-FILE and OPTIONAL-FILE params must be a valid disk file
name (i.e. not a spooler name).
PARAM REPORT-FILE {$spooler | <vol.subvol>.file-name} (Required)
This parameter is used to inform GPA where to route the STANDARD reports. If SEND-
OUTPUT-TO-SPOOLER parameter is set to "Y" a spooler name is expected, otherwise
a file-name is expected. (Note: Full path name is required if not located in the same
subvolume as the runtime GPA files).
PARAM OPTIONAL-FILE {$spooler | <vol.subvol>.file-name} (Required)
This parameter is used to inform GPA where to route the OPTIONAL reports. If SEND-
OUTPUT-TO-SPOOLER parameter is set to "Y" a spooler name is expected, otherwise
a file-name is expected. (Note: Full path name is required if not located in the same
subvolume as the runtime GPA files).
