will try all Global Credentials during discovery and will start using WBEM on the connection to
the OSM automatically if the credentials match.
NOTE: You do not need to use NonStop super group user credentials when establishing the
communication necessary to discover NonStop systems in HP SIM. You do, however, have to
update HP SIM when you change the password.
To successfully discover a NonStop system, you must meet the following requirements:
The OSM server must be running with SSL enabled, as specified in “OSM Configuration
Requirements (page 14).
Discovery must be done via an IP address that is active on a NonStop system enabled on
OSM as specified in “OSM Configuration Requirements (page 14).
You must have a valid Guardian username and password.
When discovering a NonStop system with HP SIM:
Do not use SNMP to discover NonStop systems.
You can use multiple IP addresses of the same system. HP recommends this practice for
fault-tolerance.
To discover a NonStop system, follow these steps. In this example, we are discovering the NonStop
system blosm4.
1. Make sure you meet the requirements listed above.
2. Sign-in to HP SIM on the CMS using the appropriate credentials. The All Systems screen gives
you a list of all the discovered systems.
3. To discover your NonStop system, from the Options menu, select Discovery....
4. Create a discovery task for your NonStop system as follows:
a. From the Discovery screen, click New... and the New Discovery selections are displayed:
