Testing the Application
When you complete construction of your application, you supply PATHMAKER with
information needed to create a PATHWAY environment for testing the application.
This information includes CPU assignments, home terminal name, and other data. At
this point, you also assign the names of server classes to which your server belongs.
In addition, you indicate the name of the PATHWAY monitor program that will
control your application, plus additional configuration information.
Next, you install the application for testing, using a convenient program supplied
with PATHMAKER. This program obtains the application’s PATHWAY parameters
from the project catalog and creates the testing environment.
During the testing, you watch end users as they interact with your application. Now,
you can verify that the application screens are easy to use and that navigation from
screen to screen flows smoothly. As an example, you could watch an end user enter
data on the requester screen shown in Figure 5-7.
When testing is complete and all modifications are done, you release the application
to the end users to run for production purposes. This step completes the development
of your application. However, when you are ready to update or modify the
application, PATHMAKER helps you with simplified interactive procedures that
greatly streamline the maintenance process.
