Tandem Devices Using SNA Session Passthrough
Device-initiated logon uses the SNAX/XF LU network services (LUNS) interface; this
interface can be configured to provide welcome menus and simple character-coded
logons. It also allows transparent switching between Tandem and SNA host
applications.
Tandem Devices Using SNA Session Passthrough
By combining SNA session passthrough with device emulation, Tandem terminals (such
as 65xx terminals) can also communicate with SNA host applications. SNAX/XF
software is required for the Tandem-to-SNA host connectivity, while EM3270 software
is required to provide SNA 3270 device emulation. A Tandem terminal access method,
such as ATP6100 or AM6520, is also required. See Figure 2-3
.
EM3270 now also supports SNA 5250 device emulation for passthrough to an IBM
AS/400 system.
