Calling Out from a Tandem System to an IBM System
Figure 2-15 shows how a Tandem system can use SNAX/CM to initiate a call to an
IBM host system over X.25 lines.

In this type of configuration, a business might want to contact the warehouses in its
region to check their stocking levels of various items of inventory. The Tandem
system at the regional office calls out to an IBM system located at the various
warehouses and runs a program to access the information. The obtained information
allows the buyers at the regional office to place orders for additional inventory or to
work with the advertising department to create promotional strategies to increase
sales of slow-moving items.
