Banking Application
Using SNAX/XF over
X25AM
An international bank has a variety of host computers located throughout the world,
connected via a private X.25 network. Commercial customers can call at any given
time to determine their combined financial position around the world. Before this
service was automated, it used to take several days to compile the information.
Now, the bank has installed a Tandem system with an SQL database and an
application using SNAX/XF over X25AM. The banking application determines where
the various data is found, collects the data from all the appropriate hosts, compiles the
information, and presents it as a unified financial position for the bank’s commercial
customers. The banking application is continuously updated using the Tandem
Transaction Monitoring Facility (TMF) and duplicated onto a remote Tandem system
with the Tandem Remote Database Facility (RDF). These facilities help to ensure the
integrity of the database and its continuous availability.
The configuration of this implementation is shown in Figure 3-2.
