Along with the set of processes that build, maintain, and route packages of data for
requesting applications, the TRANSFER product includes:
■ ADMIN, an application that lets administrators perform administrative tasks for
correspondents, interest groups, distribution lists, folders, and the TRANSFER
system
■ TMANAGER, an application that allows system managers to monitor and manage a
TRANSFER delivery system
Additionally, a TRANSFER system can include:
■ Other applications available from Tandem
■ PS MAIL applications that let users exchange messages electronically on
Tandem terminals and on the IBM 3270 family of terminals, as well as on other
workstations that are running a Tandem 6530 terminal emulator
■ The X400 gateway, an application that allows users to exchange packages with
users on other host systems that support the X.400 messaging-system standards
■ Queue Manager, an optional queueing facility that lets requesters add an entry in
a queue and retrieve an entry from a queue for processing
Queue Manager is a separate Tandem product that can be used independently of
TRANSFER.
■ Other applications developed by and available from third-party software vendors,
such as:
■ Courier, an application that provides electronic-forms processing, including
automatic routing and manager approval
■ Other electronic mail applications for various terminals
■ Gateways that allow users to exchange packages with users on other host
systems, including those of IBM, DEC, Hewlett-Packard, and Data General
■ User applications that customers develop and supply to run on a TRANSFER
system
