Introduction to TRANSFER Delivery System

The TRANSFER Environment Servers
Introduction to TRANSFER Delivery System—109426 2-17
Servers
Servers provide the interface between requesters and the TRANSFER database,
handling all work involved in accessing the TRANSFER database. In addition,
TRANSFER servers are used by the TRANSFER asynchronous processes when a
package is sent.
A TRANSFER application always has a TRANSFER Interactive Server class, TISERV,
defined at each node; this server class is supplied as part of TRANSFER. The server
class is called interactive because its primary job is to receive and reply to requests from
application requesters. The application requesters include clients in applications like PS
MAIL and ADMIN, user-written clients, and requesters among the TRANSFER
asynchronous processes.
Applications can have more than one server class. A PS MAIL client, for instance, has
several.
