Introduction to TRANSFER Delivery System
The TRANSFER Environment Agents
Introduction to TRANSFER Delivery System—109426 2-21
An agent can react to package delivery by:
■ Informing the correspondent that a package has arrived
■ Saving the package automatically in a folder at the depot
■ Filtering incoming packages; for example, sorting mail into first, second, and third
class messages
■ Initiating a transaction (The arriving package can be a trigger to start a transaction
or a signal that a prerequisite transaction has been completed.)
■ Creating a new package from the package received, adding items to that package,
and forwarding it to another correspondent
■ Replying automatically to the sender
■ Displaying the package on a device
■ Deleting the package if it is not meaningful to the receiver
Agents are invoked according to information in the recipient’s profile. The same agent
can be assigned to several depots, and multiple agents can be assigned to one depot.
When multiple agents are assigned to a depot, the conditions under which each is
selected for execution can be specified. For example, several agents can be assigned to
a depot, each of which handles different types of packages and applications.
