5-4 109426—Introduction to TRANSFER Delivery System
1. A customer places an order at a sales office specifying the desired merchandise, a
catalog number, the recipient’s name and address, and the date when the
merchandise should be delivered. For example, deliver one cream armchair, catalog
number 92479, to Ms. Kate Chopin, 1880 Shoreline Drive, New Orleans, Louisiana
60083, on December 14, 1990.
2. A clerk enters the order into a local database by filling out an order-entry screen; the
application assigns an order number and stores the order for later reference.
3. The application also starts a transaction by sending a copy of the sales order to
Inventory Control.
