IPX Packet Header Format
Destination Address
is the IPX address of the destination. See IPX Addresses on page A-6.
Source Address
is the IPX address of the sender. See IPX Addresses on page A-6.
IPX Addresses
An IPX address uniquely identifies a node on an IPX internetwork. An IPX address is
12 bytes long and consists of the 3 fields shown in Figure A-4.
Network
identifies a network, typically a local area network (LAN), within an internetwork.
The network address of the NonStop™ Himalaya S-series server is obtained from a
NetWare file server when the NonStopIPX/SPX subsystem is started.

Note. On a NetWare LAN, IPX addresses are assigned only to NetWare file servers and
dedicated routers and bridges. The NonStop™ IPX/SPX subsystem uses the IPX address
of the first NetWare file server that replies to its broadcast for an IPX address.
