Examples of NonStop™ IPX/SPX Functions
Figure A-7 shows an example of NonStop™ Himalaya S-series application users
printing to a NetWare printer through the LAN Print Spooler for NetWare product.
As shown in Figure A-7
, you configure and run the NonStop™ IPX/SPX subsystem
before starting the Spooler subsystem and LAN Print Spooler for NetWare processes.
(Configuring and starting the NonStop™ IPX/SPX subsystem is described in Section 1,
Configuration Quick Start.) You must configure the IPXPROTO processes that the LAN
Print Spooler for NetWare needs to connect to the NetWare environment.
The LAN Print Spooler for NetWare FASTCNFG configuration file must contain
information about the NetWare print queues that it will use. Each NetWare print queue is
configured as a device to the spooler. The FASTCNFG configuration file also contains a
user identification and password that correspond to the user identification and password
on the NetWare file server. The LAN Print Spooler for NetWare uses the NetWare
identification to deliver jobs to the NetWare print queue.
The LAN Print Spooler for NetWare process uses NCP to establish a connection with
the NetWare file server. The print process opens the specified NetWare print queue and
obtains a queue identifier. The print process then delivers the print job to the print
queue. After the print job has been delivered, the connection between the print process
and the NetWare file server is terminated.
