NonStop IPX/SPX Subsystem Architecture
NonStop™ IPX/SPX Subsystem Architecture
NonStop™ IPX/SPX runs on the NonStop™ Kernel operating system. Figure 2-3 shows
a high-level view of the NonStop™ IPX/SPX subsystem and its relationship to the
NetWare LAN.
ServerNet LAN Systems Access (SLSA) Subsystem
SLSA is the NonStopHimalaya S-series data communications subsystem that allows
the protocol I/O processes (IOPs) and drivers to access a ServerNet adapter on a
NetWare LAN. IPX protocol (IPXPROTO) processes access the LAN through the LAN
driver/interrupt handler (DIH) components of the SLSA subsystem (as shown in
Figure 2-4) and register filters based on the protocols specified.
NonStop™ IPX/SPX starts receiving data about these filters after they are registered.
IPX Manager (IPXMGR) Process
The IPXMGR process provides Distributed Systems Management (DSM) support for
the NonStop™ IPX/SPX subsystem. It processes incoming management requests and
routes each request to the proper IPXPROTO process. You use a TACL RUN command
to start the IPXMGR process. (See Creating an IPXMGR Process on page 3-55 for an
example of the TACL RUN command.)
