New and Changed Information
This edition of the iTP Secure WebServer System Administrator’s Guide contains new
and changed information about the following features:
Parallel Library TCP/IP Support.
You can now use either conventional TCP/IP support or the new Parallel Library
TCP/IP support as the transport service for the iTP WebServer. Parallel Library
TCP/IP offers significant performance improvements on throughput, scalablility,
configuration and management.
°
Parallel Library TCP/IP architecture removes the Distributor from the data path,
so that httpd servers act as their own listeners. Consult TCP/IP Subsystem
on
page 1-7.
The Auto-accept feature is also documented in Parallel Library TCP/IP: The
Auto Accept Feature on page 3-2.
°
Running the iTP WebServer relies on the properly configured Parallel Library
TCP/IP environment. Every CPU specified in the Server CPUS command (in the
httpd.config configuration file) needs to be enabled to run Parallel Library
TCP/IP. In other words, the TCPMAN needs to be properly configured and run.
Consult Preparing Your System for the iTP Secure WebServer
on page 2-3.
For detailed information about configuring for Parallel Library TCP/IP, refer to
the TCP/IP (Parallel Library) Configuration and Management Manual.
°
When you have correctly reconfigured the TCP/IP environment, you may now
install this new version of the iTP WebServer. For information on the installation
process for Parallel Library TCP/IP, consult The Setup for Parallel Library
TCP/IP Support on page 2-8.
°
Although Parallel Library TCP/IP support was designed to require minimal
changes to the actual iTP WebServer configuration, there are some migration
considerations. Consult Migration Considerations For Parallel Library TCP/IP
Support on page 3-2.
Non-Stop Servlets 2.2 and JSP 1.1 Support.
A completely new version of Servlets is available as a separately-orderable optional
product (T1222). The supported servlets API is 2.2, which also includes JavaServer
Pages 1.1. This supports the integration of the iTP WebServer into the full J2EE-
compliant environment.
°
For installation details, consult Installing and Configuring the iTP Secure
WebServer on page 2-6.
°
For architectural concepts, installation, configuration, usage, troubleshooting
and Migration issues, consult Section 9, Using NonStop Servlets for JavaServer
Pages With The iTP Secure WebServer. (Because this is a completely new
section, it contains no change bars.)
There are other minor editorial and technical changes elsewhere in the manual. All
such changes are marked by change bars.
