I. Basic Product Installation Instructions

1. Ensure that requirements for using this product are met (see

Section IV Product Requirements below).

2. Ensure that prerequisites for the installation utility and any

product-specific installation requirements are met (see Section V

Installation Prerequisites below).

3. Follow the pre-installation instructions in Section II below, if

any, before continuing.

* This product does not use DSM/SCM.

4. Navigate to the WS_SW folder on the JDBC type 4 driver CD.

5. Locate the single file with a name in the form T1249.tar

This file is referred to as the "TAR file" in the following

instructions.

6. Transfer the TAR file to the workstation. The file must be

transferred in BINARY mode.

II. Pre-Installation Instructions

1. The following software must be installed and configured

before you install the JDBC type 4 driver:

a. JDK version 1.4.1 or later must be installed on the client

system.

b. The ODBC/MX Service must be installed and running on the NonStop

system. Check the NonStop ODBC/MX Service, also known as SQL/MX

Connectivity Service (T7969G10) manual documentation on how

to start the MXCS Association Server.

The following is a quick reference to start the MXCS

Association Server from the TACL command prompt as a super.super

user:

<volume>.<subvolume>.mxoas /name $<process name>, nowait,

term $zhome/ -pn <port>
