Release Version Update Distribution
The RVU identifier is a two-digit number from 00 to 99 appended to a release version
ID and separated from it by a period. When a new RVU is created, the RVU identifier is
incremented by one; for example, H02.01. Generally, new RVUs are created quarterly.
Release Version Update Distribution
A release version update is delivered on a site update tape (SUT) that is customized to
contain only the products for which your system is licensed.
For each product, the RVU contains:
•
Object files and other executables for a specific product revision
•
Data files containing information such as configuration data, error text, and
examples
•
Software documentation for the product revision
A release version update also includes a set of documentation describing the overall
RVU.
Types of Product Version Updates in an RVU
•
New products.
•
PVUs that have not changed for this RVU and that are carried forward from a
previous RVU.
•
PVUs where the product version in the prior RVU has been replaced by a different
product version. This product version usually includes just the initial PVU, but can
occasionally include successive PVUs.
•
PVUs where the product version in the prior RVU has been revised for this RVU.
These product revisions usually include all of the planned product maintenance
SPRs created since the product version was last released and can include time-
critical fixes.
Early Adopter Program (EAP)
HP often uses the Early Adopter Program (EAP) to introduce new series releases or
specific products to customers at a very early stage. An EAP is a type of test program
conducted at a customer site. HP might make the products participating in the EAP
available to a specific customer to satisfy a customer commitment. EAP series
releases are not generally used in production systems.
