SPRs for Special Consideration List
Outage Prevention Notifications (OPNs)
Outage Prevention Notifications (OPNs) are Hotstuff messages that describe a
problem that is particularly likely to cause a system outage and that provide steps to
avoid or prevent the problem.
OPNs are also available through TIM Support Collections and Scout for NonStop
Servers.
Example 2-1 on page 2-8 shows a sample OPN, and Evaluating Outage Prevention
Notifications on page 3-3 explains how to analyze an OPN.
SPR Recall and Withdrawal Messages
SPR Recall and Withdrawal messages are a type of Hotstuff message that recalls or
withdraws a distributed SPR and describes how to replace it. See Recalled,
Withdrawn, and Obsolete SPRs on page 1-7 for definitions of recalled and withdrawn
SPRs.
SPR Recall and Withdrawal Hotstuff messages are available through TIM Support
Collections and Scout for NonStop Servers.
Example 2-2 on page 2-9 shows a sample SPR Recall message.
General Messages
General Hotstuff messages describe miscellaneous critical defects, safety hazards,
and other serious problems. They also warn you about operations management or
system administration problems that can have serious consequences. Example 2-3 on
page 2-10 shows a general Hotstuff message.
SPRs for Special Consideration List
The SPRs for Special Consideration list is issued as a Support Note that lists certain
additional SPRs that HP believes might be of particular importance to customers who
are upgrading to the RVU for which the list is issued. When you are planning to install
an RVU and are researching additional SPRs you might want to install with it, you
should first consider the SPRs in this list and install those you conclude are relevant
and important based on conditions present in your own software environment.
The SPRs for Special Consideration list divides SPRs into these categories:
Consider installing to avoid potential critical problems
Consider installing for potential significant benefit
See Evaluating SPRs for Special Consideration on page 3-9 for information about
evaluating and installing these SPRs.
Note. When an SPR is withdrawn for a less severe defect, a Support Note might be sent
notifying customers that the SPR is no longer available.
