Reviewing Requisites
1. Review the SPR’s requisites.
If using Scout for NonStop Servers, note that it shows the earliest usable requisite
for an SPR. The requisite SPR might have been superseded by later SPRs.
2. Determine if you have already installed the requisite SPR or its equivalent function.
First, determine if the requisite SPR is for the product version you are using.
•
If it is, check whether you have installed the SPR (or one that supersedes it). If
you have, you can ignore the requisite; otherwise, you must install it.
•
If it is not, check the Content file for your RVU to determine if the product
version you are using includes the function of the requisite.
If it does, you do not need to install the requisite.
If it does not, check the softdoc for the initial PVU. Determine if the particular
fixes or features in the SPR you are investigating are documented as fixed or
added to the initial PVU.

If all of the fixes or features are present, you do not need to install the
requisite.
°
If one or more fixes or features are missing, contact your local GCSC or
service provider to determine which SPR to install with your RVU.
3. If you need to install requisite SPR(s), determine if:
•
The requisite has been superseded, or a later SPR for the requisite exists.
•
The requisite itself has requisites.
4. Determine if a requisite SPR has been superseded.
a. If it has, determine if the superseding SPR is usable with the RVU you have
installed.
b. If another SPR was issued after the cited requisite but the later SPR does not
note that it superseded the requisite SPR, determine if the later SPR is usable
with the RVU you have installed. If it is usable, also review the softdoc to
determine if the SPR contains all the functions of the requisite.
If neither 4a nor 4b is true, the cited requisite SPR is the only choice for use with
your RVU.
Note. Some SPRs have conditional requisites (see page B-4). In such cases, results displayed
by Scout for NonStop Servers can be misleading or, in rare cases, incorrect. As a precaution,
always review the softdocs of the SPRs you are sent to see if any of the requisites are
conditional. See Researching Conditional Requisites
on page 3-13 for detailed information.
