Task 3: Evaluate “Want to Keep” SPRs
If the SPR Is for a Different Product Version From the One in the New RVU
Normally, the initial PVU for a new product version incorporates all of the fixes and
features of SPRs issued for previous product versions. However, the softdoc for the
initial PVU does not necessarily describe every detail of that history.
Check to see if your SPR is cited in Part 1 of the Content file for the new RVU:
If it is, all of its fixes or features are present in the new RVU, and you do not need
to reinstall your SPR with the RVU. Circle Completed on your SPR Research Form
and end your research on this SPR. Continue with the next “want to keep” SPR.
If it is not, check the softdoc for the initial PVU in the new RVU. Determine if the
particular fixes or features you want to keep are documented as fixed or added to
that SPR:

If all of the fixes or features you want to keep are present in the new RVU, you
do not need to reinstall your SPR. Circle Completed on your SPR Research
Form and end your research on this SPR. Continue with the next “want to

If all of the fixes or features are not present in the new RVU, check softdocs for
the SPRs that are usable with the new RVU (see “Researching SPRs That Are
Usable With a Release” in the Scout for NonStop Servers Users Guide).
Determine if the particular fixes or features you want to keep are documented
as fixed or added to one of these SPRs. If so, you might install that SPR
instead of your original “want to keep” SPR. Discard the form for your original
“want to keep” SPR, perform requisite analysis for the new SPR, and obtain
the SPR and needed requisites through Scout for NonStop Servers.
°
If an RVU does not include a critical feature or fix you require and you cannot
install your “want to keep” SPR or a replacement, contact your local GCSC or
service provider to determine if you need to reinstall your SPR (or an
alternative and, if so, which one) with the new RVU.
Caution. Do not replace an initial PVU delivered on a SUT with an SPR for a different product
version unless directed by HP. Doing so might cause problems. If you cannot find an SPR for
this RVU that contains the required functions, contact your local GCSC for help.
