Task 2: Track SPRs
Task 2: Track SPRs
HP provides the following tools to keep track of SPRs being made available for
products you run on your system:
ExpressNotice service (see page 2-2)
Scout for NonStop Servers (see the Scout for NonStop Servers Users Guide)
TIM SOFTDOCs Collections and TIM Support Collections (see page 2-3)
HP strongly recommends that you monitor Hotstuff messages and SIDs published
through ExpressNotice, at least once a week, preferably every day.
Other ways to monitor software changes include:
Checking the list of SPRs for Special Consideration for your RVU to see if it has
been updated since you last reviewed it. Check all revisions since your last review
(starting with the oldest), noting any changes, as indicated by change bars.
Reviewing Hotstuff messages and Support Notes that have been issued since you
last reviewed them. Starting with the number of the last document you reviewed,
evaluate any documents issued since that time.
Periodically run Scout for NonStop Servers report of SPRs applicable to your RVU.
Evaluate the SIDs of any SPRs you have not previously reviewed.
Task 3: Evaluate Relevant SPRs
Step 1: Evaluate Collected SPRs
Evaluate the SPRs collected in Task 2 by using the procedures in Section 3, Evaluating
Software Changes.
Evaluating SPRs for Special Consideration on page 3-9
Evaluating Outage Prevention Notifications on page 3-3
Evaluating SPR Introduction Documents (SIDs) on page 3-5
Select the SPRs you need to research in more detail to judge their benefit and risk for
your particular circumstances.
Study all the documented information on the SPRs of interest, including superseded
and requisite SPRs, to determine dependencies and to compare the SPRs with your
computing environment.
Step 2: Evaluate Requisite SPRs
You need to research any requisite SPRs for the SPRs you collected in Step 1.
For more information, see Evaluating Requisite SPRs on page 3-12.
