Softdoc Addendum
•
Summary summarizes the features or fixes described.
•
Superseded PVUs lists superseded SPRs in alphabetic order (for example, AAE,
AAH, AAP, AAS). All of the distributed files and all fixes and features, except those
that are officially withdrawn, that are in the superseded SPR will be in the
superseding SPR. See also Superseded SPRs on page 1-5.
If you are currently using a superseded SPR and are considering moving to a
newer revision, either by upgrading to a new RVU or installing a newer SPR, use
this information to determine whether you can do so without risking a known
regression.
•
Requisite PVUs lists any requisite SPRs. These SPRs can be for the same
product as the requiring SPR, but are typically for a different product.
A requisite PVU is either an SPR that provides specific function or data that must
be present in your software configuration for a specific fix or feature in a “requiring”
SPR to be fully functional (assuming you use the requisite product), or an SPR that
is required when using the requiring SPR to maintain compatibility with another
product. See also Requisite SPRs on page 1-6.
•
Required Hardware lists the servers on which the SPR runs. This section might
also list controllers and devices with which the SPR operates.
•
Required Firmware lists any requisite firmware SPRs required for this SPR at run
time. A requisite SPR is one that provides specific function or data that must be
present in your software configuration for a specific fix or feature in this SPR to be
fully functional. For example:
Required Firmware: T9794D20 HYA IPB MICROCODE
•
Required Software lists the requisite software SPRs. A requisite SPR is one that
provides specific function or data that must be present in your software
configuration for a specific fix or feature in this SPR to be fully functional.
•
Manuals lists the part numbers and titles of any manuals that have changed or are
new for this SPR.
•
Installation Considerations describes the procedures that must be followed to
properly install the SPR.
Note. Do not depend on suffixes or dates for any indication of whether an SPR contains
the features and corrections of another SPR for the same or a different product version.
For example, a product such as the I/O Driver (T9753) might release two distinct sets of
files: one set for a series of tape process SPRs, such as AAA, AAC, and AAE, and another
set for a series of disk process SPRs, such as AAB and AAD. In this case, AAC would not
contain the fixes contained in AAB.
Note. The installation considerations are valid only with respect to the associated SPR.
You must use judgment when installing multiple SPRs simultaneously (regardless of
whether they are dependent on each other). DSM/SCM determines the order of all
simultaneous changes.
