D How to Use a Content File
The Content file for an RVU shows whether the RVU accumulates the function of
nonrecalled SPRs for the product versions distributed with and since the oldest RVU
from which upgrading to the new RVU is supported.
When you are researching the feasibility of moving to a new RVU, part of your analysis
involves studying possible regressions and ensuring that features and corrections you
obtained through individual SPRs for your current RVU are maintained with the new
RVU. The Content file for a new RVU is used to determine whether all function in an
SPR applicable to an older RVU is present in the new RVU.
The Content file is accurate as of the date printed on it.
The Content file is available:
•
In the TIM SOFTDOCS Collections
•
On the site update tape in the RLSEDOC (Y9230) subvolume
Content File Details
The Content file for a particular RVU contains the following parts:
•
Included SPRs
•
Excluded SPRs
Check the Software Product Maintenance List (SPML) file to determine whether a
product is supported in a new RVU. You can find the SPML file in the TIM Support
Collections for the current RVU.
More current SPR information, if any, can be found in the README file on the SUT or
in the TIM SOFTDOCS Collections for the current RVU.
Some of the information available in the Content file for an RVU is also available
through Scout for NonStop Servers in the Release Content page, as documented in
the Scout for NonStop Servers User’s Guide. However, the Release Content page also
describes any emergency overlays that might have been performed since the first
customer shipment of the RVU.
Included SPRs
Part 1 of the Content file (Example D-1) lists the SPRs for product versions distributed
with and since a previous RVU whose complete fixes and features are included in the
current RVU. The list contains these SPRs:
