firmware
firmware. Code that is necessary for the power-up initialization and communication with the
host or device. A ServerNet software component (for example, an adapter) is called
firmware. Some firmware is downloaded when the system or component is booted.
first customer shipment (FCS). The point at which HP begins revenue shipments to
customers of a product set. The FCS can be declared for General Availability or for
Controlled Availability.
GA. See General Availability (GA).
General Availability (GA). The point at which HP ships a product to any customer who
orders it and whose system meets the prerequisites for using it. GA is the state that
most HP NonStop Server products and release version update (RVU)s are in during
normal delivery.
GCSC. See Global Customer Support Center (GCSC).
Global Customer Support Center (GCSC). A support organization that provides telephone
and remote diagnostic support for HP NonStop Server customers.
Hotstuff message. A message that describes a problem with unusually serious
consequences and the steps you can take to avoid or prevent it. The message can be
of a general nature, an Outage Prevention Notification (OPN), or a Software Recall or
Withdrawal message.
Independent Product (IP). A licensed software product that can be installed and used with
multiple release version update (RVU)s and that is delivered individually on a CD-ROM
rather than as a component of an RVU on a SUT.
indirect requisite. A requisite of a requisite.
initial PVU. The first product version update within a product version. Delivered in the
release version update (RVU) or Independent Product update (IPU) in which it was
initially introduced. An initial PVU usually contains all functionality and fixes previously
made available for the same product. It does not include functions that HP has formally
declared obsolete or functions that are not applicable to the corresponding RVU.
IP. See Independent Product (IP).
NonStop Technical Library (NTL). A software product that provides access to product and
support information through CD-ROMs or DVDs and online, Internet-accessible
servers. Using NTL, you can access and search libraries of software manuals,
softdocs, support information, and independent products.

time-critical fix. A delivery attribute of an SPR that is issued to provide a fix immediately
instead of waiting for inclusion in the next scheduled release version update (RVU).
