Recalled, Withdrawn, and Obsolete SPRs
Recalled, Withdrawn, and Obsolete SPRs
It is sometimes necessary or preferable to stop distributing an SPR. SPRs that are no
longer available are classified as recalled, withdrawn, or obsolete:
•
A recalled SPR either contains a defect that, under certain conditions, could cause
serious problems–a system outage or inaccurate operations results–or prevent
normal operation of the system or applications.
•
A withdrawn SPR contains a defect that results in faulty behavior or introduces an
unannounced incompatibility but is considered less harmful than the effects of a
recalled SPR.
•
An obsolete SPR is not defective and presents no risk but provides no future value
to potential new users (for example, it might apply to an obsolete product).
Product Maintenance Levels
Each software product has a unique product life cycle and a varying degree of
maintenance activity. As products mature or replacement products are introduced, the
level of maintenance and degree of consideration given to customer-generated
Requests for Enhancement (RFEs) change.
Each product is assigned a Product Maintenance Level (PML) that describes its
current maintenance status. The length of time a product remains at each stage varies.
The Software Product Maintenance List is available through the NonStop Product
Release and Support page:
