Task 3: Evaluate “Want to Keep” SPRs
Step 3: Check to See if Your SPR Is Present in the New RVU
The easiest way to see if your SPR is present in a new RVU is to use Scout for
NonStop Servers to display the content for that RVU or the detailed information for that
SPR.
If an SPR on yourwant to keep” list is listed in the Scout RVU Content page, all its
features and corrections are included in the new RVU, and you do not need to
install it with the new RVU. Continue with the next SPR.
If a “want to keep” SPR is not listed in the Scout RVU Content page, the product
version update delivered in the new RVU requires regression research. Continue
with Step 4.
Step 4: Check to See if Your SPR Is Included in the New RVU
If the SPR Is for the Same Product Version As the One in the New RVU
Check the Scout RVU Content page:
If the RVU Content page shows only the initial PVU with no SPRs for that product
version, your SPR is not incorporated in the new RVU. You must reinstall your SPR
(or an alternative).
If the RVU Content page shows the initial PVU plus one or more subsequent
SPRs, review the list of superseded SPRs in the softdoc of the most recent SPR.
(You can also view this information on Scout’s Product Version Information page.)
If the softdoc for the most recent SPR lists your SPR as superseded, the new RVU
incorporates your SPR. Circle Completed on your SPR Research Form and end
your research on this SPR. Continue with the next “want to keep” SPR.
If your SPR is not listed as superseded, more research is necessary.
Check the softdoc for each cited SPR for the product in the new RVU. Check the
lists of “New Features” and “Problems Corrected” in the softdoc. Determine if the
particular fixes or features in the SPR you are investigating are documented as
fixed or added in any of the overlaid SPRs:
°
If all of the fixes or features are present in the new RVU, you do not need to
reinstall your SPR with the RVU. Circle Completed on your SPR Research
Form and end your research on this SPR. Continue with the next “want to
keep” SPR.
°
If one or more fixes or features are missing, you must reinstall your SPR (or an
alternative) with the new RVU. Continue with the next “want to keep” SPR.
If the SPR Is for a Different Product Version From the One in the New RVU
Normally, the initial PVU for a new product version incorporates all of the fixes and
features of SPRs issued for previous product versions. However, the softdoc for the
initial PVU does not necessarily describe every detail of that history.
