Task 5: Evaluate Requisite SPRs
Step 2: Evaluate Which SPRs to Consider for Further
Research
Based on the selection criteria from Step 1, evaluate the SPRs by using the
procedures described in Section 3, Evaluating Software Changes.

Evaluating SPR Introduction Documents (SIDs) on page 3-4
•
Research whether any additional SPRs can be used with the RVU (see
“Researching SPRs That Are Usable With a Release” in the Scout for NonStop
Servers - User’s Guide section of the Scout online help).
Select the SPRs you need to research in more detail to judge their benefit and risk for
your particular circumstances. Study all the documented information on the SPRs of
interest, including superseded and requisite SPRs, to determine dependencies and to
compare the SPRs with your computing environment.
As you review the SPRs, make a list of the SPRs that you want to install in addition to
the new RVU. An example is:
Step 3: Check to See if Any SPRs Have Been Superseded
For each SPR on your “additional SPRs” list, use Scout for NonStop Servers to
determine if the SPR has been superseded. If it has, decide which of the alternatives is
best for your circumstances.
Task 5: Evaluate Requisite SPRs
You need to research the requisite SPRs for both the pending “want to keep” SPRs
currently installed on your system and any additional SPRs you have chosen to install.

If you are using Scout for NonStop Servers, you can submit a search request for
requisite SPRs.
If you are ever in doubt as to whether an SPR is usable with an RVU, contact your
local GCSC or service provider for help.
Task 6: Evaluate the Impact of Upgrading to the New RVU
Read these documents, using your impact list as a reference:
