Using the Content File to Research a New RVU
Using the Content File to Research a New RVU
When you are researching the feasibility of upgrading to a new RVU, examine Content
files, Support Notes, and softdocs to ensure that the features and corrections from your
current RVU are preserved when you upgrade to a new RVU.
Researching SPRs
To determine which SPRs were delivered on the SUT for an RVU, examine the
Content file to determine:
•
Which SPRs were included in the RVU
•
Which available SPRs were not included in the RVU
Researching the Differences Between RVUs
You can examine the differences between two RVUs by comparing the Content files for
the RVUs and then use Scout for NonStop servers or the NTL Softdocs library in each
RVU to view detailed SPR information.
Step 1: List Superseded SPRs
Make a list of the SPRs in the new RVU that supersede your currently installed
software. Look at these items in the Content file for the new RVU:
•
The SPRs delivered on the SUT, marked with an asterisk (*) entry in the SPR In
RVU-ID column
•
SPRs that were not present in the previous RVU, marked with a plus (+) entry in
the Change from RVU-ID column
•
Products unchanged from the previous RVU have no marking in the Change from
RVU-ID column
•
SPRs marked with an I in the SPR Included in RVU-ID column.
•
The SPRs themselves are not on the SUT, but their complete fixes and features
are provided in this RVU.
