Product Overview
Mid-Range Silo Media Manager (MSMM) is a product that allows SL500 tape libraries
and LTO Gen 2 (N1522A) tape drives to run unattended labeled backups, restores, and
allows manual interaction with a GUI interface.
It can communicate with a HP NonStop S-series system via TCP/IP. With MSMM you
can schedule backups, tape cartridges can be labeled and imported/exported (enter
and eject) into/from the tape library, and tape drives can be loaded/unloaded.
The Mid-Range Silo Media Manager software requires HP NonStop labeled tape
cartridges. In addition to being labeled magnetically, each tape cartridge must have a
special external label that displays the volume ID in both a standard OCR format and a
bar code.
