Control Path and Data Path Configuration
Control Path and Data Path Configuration
The Mid-Range Silo Media Manager solution consists of a SCSI control path, plugged
into either a PMFC or the ServerNet/DA S-SAC and directly to the library. The Control
path is the path responsible for tape cartridge movement and library control. The Data
path, on the other hand, is for tape drives.
The Data path is connected to either the PMFC or the ServerNet/DA S-SAC and
directly to a tape drive. The MSMM GUI interface runs on a PC and uses TCP/IP to
communicate with the NonStop system.
Commands sent from the MSMM GUI via TCP/IP are intercepted by the Mid-Range
Silo Media Manager process running on the NonStop system. The process then sends
the commands via the control path to the tape library.
