The NBT Backup Takeover
If the NBT primary process fails, or the processor running the primary NBT process
fails, the NBT backup process will continue operation. This is known as a backup
takeover.
When a backup takeover occurs, all active sessions are terminated. Dynamic windows
are terminated. Most applications, such as TACL, Pathway, and SMB File Server (on
G-series systems) and MLSRV (on D-series systems), will be immediately available for
new sessions. Recovery by customer WSPTP applications is dependent upon the
application.
Using NBT With Pathway
When preconfiguring terminals, you should use both of the following:
PATHCOM - SET TERM AUTORESTART 10
NBTCOM - CONTROL^11 Y
If the SCOBOL application captures errors, or has a LOGOFF command, it should use
RECONNECT MODEM upon detection of any error or upon the logoff request.
To simplify configuration, you can use NBTCOM AUTO^ADD and DEFAULT
SERVICE. Set
AUTO^ADD Y
DEFAULT SERVICE name
where name matches the static window name in the PCT/TTE configuration.
