Using WSPTP NCB Applications
Using WSPTP NCB Applications
The NBX WSPTP operation is almost identical to MULTILAN. Below are the
differences:
Commands Not Supported by NBX
Several NCB commands, which are not required for 6530 windows, SMB file sharing
on G-series systems, MLSRV file sharing on D-series systems, or RSC, are not
supported by NBX:
SEND DATAGRAM
RECEIVE DATAGRAM
SEND BROADCAST
RECEIVE BROADCAST DATAGRAM
ADAPTER STATUS
SESSION STATUS
Presentation Interface
The NBX WSPTP application presentation interface uses the same Extended NetBIOS
Control Block (NCB) as does MULTILAN, with a few differences.
For NCB^RESOURCE^TYPE, when NCB^RESOURCE^DOMAIN=2 is used in
this field and also NCB^VERSION=2, NBX uses the domain name specified in the
NCB^RESOURCE field. For all other values of NCB^RESOURCE^TYPE and
NCB^VERSION, NBX uses the default domain. Thus, the gateway and pool
resource types are not directly supported.
NCB^SEND^SEQ^NUM, NCB^SYNC^SEQ^DEPTH, and NCB^SLOT^NUM are
not used. Since there is no separate MLAD hardware containing NetBIOS adapters,
these fields are not meaningful.
NCB^POOL^KEY is not used.
Note. MULTILAN is not supported on G-series systems. NBX provides the same MULTILAN
APIs on D- and G-series systems, and continues to support NSK applications and remote
workstation NetBIOS applications using these APIs.
