NonStop NET/MASTER MS Commands

OPSYS The OPSYS command submits a Distributed Systems Network Management (DSNM)
command for execution. There are two types of DSNM commands you can execute
from NonStop NET/MASTER MS: DSNM commands used to start, interactively
communicate with, and terminate interactive sessions with Guardian utilities and to
run TACL macros; and DSNM commands used to control subsystems in a network.
Refer to the User’s Guide to DSNM Commands for a complete description of DSNM
utility and subsystem commands.
Using the OPSYS command to communicate with a Guardian utility means that
NonStop NET/MASTER MS receives the results of interaction with the utility and
sends the results either to you or an NCL process, depending on where the OPSYS
command was issued.
Contrast this command with the PROGRUN command, which suspends your current
activity with NonStop NET/MASTER MS when it executes an external program (such
as a Guardian utility), but does not send the results to NonStop NET/MASTER MS
and does not allow command authority-level checking on each command sent to a
Guardian utility. For these reasons, it is recommended that you use the OPSYS
command rather than the PROGRUN command to use Guardian conversational
utilities from NonStop NET/MASTER MS. The OPSYS command lends itself to
automating operations, whereas the PROGRUN command does not.
There are two formats of the OPSYS command, discussed next.
Format 1 Format 1 of the OPSYS command is an abbreviated form of the Format 2 OPSYS SEND
command. Format 1 allows you to start, interactively communicate with, and
terminate Guardian utilities and to run TACL macros defined in User ID Management
Services (UMS).
The syntax of Format 1 is automatically installed by the INIT NCL procedure executed
during NonStop NET/MASTER MS startup. Installing Format 1 enables
authority-level checking for individual Guardian utilities and individual utility
commands. Default authority levels for Guardian utility commands available using
Format 1 are listed in Appendix A, “Default Authority Levels for Guardian Utility
Commands.” When Format 1 is available, you can use either Format 1 or Format 2 (if
you have sufficient authority).

SEND
establishes a new session with a Guardian utility or TACL macro whose name is
defined in UMS, and sends text to it or sends text to an existing session.
You can omit the SEND keyword after OPSYS if the word that follows OPSYS does
not match a DSNM utility or subsystem command. You can omit both the OPSYS
and SEND keywords if the first word of the command line is not that of a
