AUTOHOLD
NonStop NET/MASTER MS Commands
115412 Tandem Computers Incorporated 2–15
If a group of messages fills more than one screen (with the result that later
messages in the group overwrite earlier messages in the group), OCS stops
roll-delete messages from scrolling past in the roll-delete message area if the
roll-delete message delimiter bar is about to roll to the top of the OCS window.
NOAUTO
disables AUTOHOLD AUTO.
Considerations
The default authority level of this command is 0.
You can enter this command from any NCL procedure that executes in the
primary processing environment associated with an OCS window by using the
CMD core statement (but not the INTCMD verb).
When the screen freezes after the bottom line is written, the AUTO HOLD caption
is displayed just above the OCS command input line; this is deleted when the next
keyboard entry is made.
If the AUTO HOLD freeze condition is in effect when many messages are being
sent to the screen, you are warned when the roll-delete message queue is 75% full
and 100% full. After the roll-delete message queue limit is reached (200 messages
by default) subsequent messages cause the earliest message to be discarded and
the newest message is added to the end of the queue. The PROFILE HOLD
command specifies the maximum number of roll-delete messages that are queued.
The SYSPARMS HELDMSG command specifies the maximum value of the
PROFILE HOLD command.
If messages are being lost, you are warned every 10 messages (by default) until the
AUTO HOLD condition is released by input from the terminal. These warnings
are given by changing the caption above the command entry line to %75 LIMIT,
%100 LIMIT, and MSGS LOST. The SYSPARMS LMSGWARN command sets the
repeat frequency for warning of lost messages.
An AUTO HOLD or HOLDING caption is changed to MSG QUEUED if another
solicited message arrives.
An AUTO HOLD or HOLDING caption is changed to FS-HOLD if a panel is
attempting to take over the window. The panel takes over the window when the
ENTER key or any function key is pressed.
You can view messages that have scrolled past on your OCS window by using the
recall buffer.
For related information, see the PROFILE HOLD, PROFILE ROLL, SYSPARMS
HELDMSG, and SYSPARMS LMSGWARN commands.
