NET/MASTER Management Services (MS) System Management Guide

5 Customizing the Operations
Environment
115414 NonStop NET/MASTER MS System Management Guide 5–1
This section explains the use of commands that enable you to customize the operations
environment. Specifically, it describes the procedures involved in performing these
management operations:
Dedicating terminals
Setting system-wide terminal security attributes
Configuring a terminal for 8-bit character support
Setting system-wide password management attributes
Setting logon screen attributes
Setting system-wide OCS window attributes
Restricting access to commands
Customizing NonStop NET/MASTER Management Services (MS) commands
Defining default function keys
Limiting use of system resources
Preloading NCL procedures
Customizing the NCL procedure search path
Managing NCL queues
Preloading panel description files
Customizing the panel search path
Controlling access to a user database (UDB)
Controlling access to a Pathway server class
Other aspects of the operations environment are customized when you define a user to
NonStop NET/MASTER MS. For example, the user ID definition record determines
whether one is authorized to use specific features. You also specify the kinds of
messages that are sent to a terminal by configuring options in a user ID definition
record. See Section 4, “Managing User Access and Privileges,” for a discussion of user
ID definition records.
Many of the operations environment attributes are configured by setting system
parameters. You can issue the SYSPARMS command to change the attributes online,
and the changes take effect almost immediately. Alternatively, you can write an NCL
procedure, such as INIT or READY, to issue SYSPARMS commands during the system
startup phase. See Section 3, “Configuring NonStop NET/MASTER MS,” for a
discussion of the INIT and READY procedures.
Complete reference information for all of the commands discussed in this section
appear in the NonStop NET/MASTER MS Command Reference Manual.
