To specify the command authority levels, you must add a record to the command
set definition database. See “Securing External Utilities,” later in this section, for
details.
Modifying a Utility
Definition Record
Occasionally, you must modify a utility definition record. If you move a utility’s
program file, for example, you must update the utility’s definition record to reflect the
new location of the program file. You must modify a record if you want to alter any of
the default parameter values or to supply your own value in lieu of a default. To
change a utility definition record, follow these steps:
1. Move to the UMS : Utility Definition Maintenance panel.
2. Type U in the Select Option field.
3. Type the name of the utility that you want to change in the Enter Utility Name
field.
4. Enter the utility definition type in the OPSYS or PROGRUN field:
If the utility is accessed by using the OPSYS command (conversational-mode
programs), enter O.
If the utility is accessed by using the PROGRUN command (block-mode or
conversational-mode programs), enter P.
5. Press the ENTER key.
Page 1 of the the UMS : Utility Details panel appears on your screen. You can
change values in all fields except the Utility Name and OPSYS or PROGRUN
fields.
6. Change the information you want to alter.
“Contents of a Utility Definition Record,” earlier in this section, identifies each
field on the panel and describes its purpose, valid values and, if appropriate,
default value.
7. Press the F3 function key to issue the FILE command.
The FILE command submits the modified utility definition record to the
customized utility definition database. If you modify a record from the
distributed utility definition database, NonStop NET/MASTER MS adds a copy of
the record from the distributed utility definition database to the customized utility
definition database. The record in the customized utility definition database
reflects your modifications.
When the command completes execution, NonStop NET/MASTER MS returns
you to the UMS : Utility Definition Maintenance panel and displays a notification
message similar to the following:
NNM2180 UTILITY DEFINITION YAMMERER O UPDATED
NonStop NET/MASTER MS also sends the message to its activity log, recording
the fact that you modified a utility definition record.
