Viewing a Command Set
Definition Record
To view a utility’s command set and authority levels, follow these steps:
1. Move to the UMS : Utility Command Set Maintenance Menu panel.
2. Type B in the Select Option field.
3. Move the cursor to the Enter Utility Name field, and type the name of the utility
whose command set record you want to view.
A utility name is 1 through 12 letters, digits, and underscores, starting with a
letter.
4. Move the cursor to the OPSYS or PROGRUN field and type either O or P:
If the utility is accessed by using the OPSYS command (conversational-mode
programs), enter O.
If the utility is accessed by using the PROGRUN command (block-mode or
conversational-mode programs), enter P.
5. Press the ENTER key.
The UMS : Utility Command Set Details panel appears on your screen, displaying
information about the record you selected.
The panel appears in BROWSE mode, which means that all fields appear in
display-only mode. Also, in BROWSE mode, the F3 function key issues the EXIT
command, as opposed to the FILE command.
Note The SHOW COMMANDS command does not display the authority level of external utility commands.
Modifying a Command Set
Definition Record
Occasionally, you must modify a command set definition record. For example, if you
want to change the command authority level required to issue a specific command,
you must change the utility’s command set definition record to associate the new
authority level with the command. To modify a command set definition record, follow
these steps:
1. Move to the UMS : Utility Command Set Maintenance Menu panel.
2. Type U in the Select Option field.
3. Move the cursor to the Enter Utility Name field, and type the name of the utility
record you want to modify.
4. Move the cursor to the OPSYS or PROGRUN field and type either O or P:
If the utility is accessed by using the OPSYS command (conversational-mode
programs), enter O.
If the utility is accessed by using the PROGRUN command (block-mode or
conversational-mode programs), enter P.
5. Press the ENTER key.
