Granting Unrestricted
Access to PROGRUN
Commands
As noted in “How Users Access External Utilities,” at the beginning of this section, the
PROGRUN command available to most users is an NCL procedure named
PROGRUN. The NCL procedure uses information in the utility definition databases
and the command set definition databases; the native version of the PROGRUN
command, however, does not. The native version enables you to run any external
utility program that is available to your Guardian user ID.
The UMS : Authority for Unrestricted PROGRUN panel sets the authority level
required to use the native PROGRUN command. For additional information about the
two formats of the PROGRUN command, refer to the NonStop NET/MASTER MS
Command Reference Manual.
If no command authority level is specified for the native PROGRUN command, there
is no restriction on its use; the SYSPARMS CMDAUTH setting for the command
authority for PROGRUN is the only control. When a value for unrestricted
PROGRUN command authority is entered into the database, the setting can raise only
the minimum command authority required to use the native PROGRUN syntax; it
cannot lower the level below that specified by the SYSPARMS CMDAUTH setting.
The utility command set database distributed with NonStop NET/MASTER MS
contains a setting of 255 for unrestricted PROGRUN command authority.
To change the command authority level required to use the native PROGRUN
command, follow these steps:
1. Move to the User ID Management Services : Primary Menu panel.
2. Type W in the Select Option field, and press the ENTER key.
The UMS : Utility Command Set Maintenance Menu panel, shown next, appears
on your screen.
