If you are new to Tandem networks, you must read the Introduction to Distributed
Systems Management (DSM) to familiarize yourself with crucial parts of the software
infrastructure that NonStop NET/MASTER MS uses. You should also read Tandem’s
Introduction to Data Communications and the manuals associated with the data
communications software on your Tandem system. Specific DSM-related books
include:
The EMS Manual, which contains a complete description of EMS
The Operator Messages Manual, which describes all event messages reported
through the Event Management Service
Finally, if you plan to manage a heterogeneous network with NonStop NET/MASTER
MS, you should have all the data communications and management software
documentation required for the foreign systems and communications protocols in
your network(s).
