X.25 Connection
Guidelines
This subsection provides guidelines for configuring INMC communication over X.25
lines. It suggests values for the configuration of line and subdevice attributes. The
recommended values enable efficient transfer of INMC data blocks. The subsection
also includes guidelines for describing X.25 connections and subdevices to NonStop
NET/MASTER MS for INMC use. See “Example 1: IBM Host Controlling Two
Tandem Nodes,” later in this section, for an example of how the commands and
operands are used.
X25AM Configuration
Guidelines
Table 9-5 provides guidelines for the configuration of X.25 lines and subdevices for use
by INMC. The guidelines state required settings for protocol and subdevice types.
The guidelines also recommend settings for data transfer attributes. The
recommended settings allow for the most efficient transmission of INMC data blocks
over X.25 lines. Refer to the SCF Reference Manual for X25AM for additional
information about the attributes.

Line Configuration Attributes
SCF Attribute SYSGEN Attribute Setting Guidelines
CALLS INCOMINGCALLS/
NOINCOMINGCALLS
Must allow incoming calls if the session includes a
passive unit of a switched virtual circuit.
OUTGOINGCALLS/
NOOUTGOINGCALLS
Must allow outgoing calls if the session includes an active
unit of a switched virtual circuit.
TWOWAYCALLS Must allow two-way calling if the line includes an active
unit of a switched virtual circuit.
Subdevice Configuration Attributes
SCF Attribute SYSGEN Attribute Setting Guidelines
DEVTYPE None (9,0)
PROTOCOL None PTP
RECSIZE None 1028 bytes
Each unit defined for a permanent virtual circuit must have a corresponding
permanent virtual circuit unit defined on the other end of the link. Active units of
switched virtual circuits must have corresponding passive units defined on the other
end of the link, and vice-versa.
