NetView users usually monitor and respond to event messages with one of these two
management applications:
The NetView console—the primary network monitoring facility in NetView.
The NetView Hardware Monitor—operators use this more sophisticated event
monitoring application to obtain both detailed information about messages and
recovery procedure recommendations.
Using the ISR component, you can send two classes of event messages to IBM message
interfaces:
EMS messages, which are forwarded to the PPO interface for display on the
NetView console screen
NMVT messages, which are sent through the CNM interface on the IBM host to
the Hardware Monitor management application
As with the SOLVE management services, NetView users can issue commands to
Tandem subsystems and start sessions with Guardian utilities, such as PUP, from the
NetView console. NetView users can issue Tandem system commands from CLIST or
REXX procedures. On a Tandem node, NonStop NET/MASTER MS can apply
NetView commands to resources on an IBM node.
