Customizing Command Help Information

Adding Command
Help Information
Adding command help information means adding information for a new command or
command/operand combination to the command help database. Help Maintenance
does not provide an Add option. However, you can easily add information by
following these steps:
1. Create a command help edit file with the information for the new command or
command/operand combination. You can use Edit Services to create an edit file.
2. Follow the steps described in “Importing Command Help Information,” earlier in
this section, to import the information to the command help database.
Updating Command
Help Information
Updating command help information means modifying existing command help
information for a command or command/operand combination in the command help
database. Help Maintenance does not provide an Update option. However, you can
easily update information by following these steps:
1. Follow the steps described in “Exporting Command Help Information,” earlier in
this section, to export the information from the command help database.
2. Edit the command help edit file with the updated information for the command or
command/operand combination. You can use Edit Services to update an edit file.
3. Follow the steps described in “Importing Command Help Information,” earlier in
this section, to import the information to the command help database.
