NET/MASTER Management Services (MS) System Management Guide

Appendix C Sample CONFIG File Segments
115414 NonStop NET/MASTER MS System Management Guide C–1
NonStop NET/MASTER Management Services (MS) is distributed with a commented
out sample CONFIG file that supplies the equivalent of the default startup
configuration. The name of the file is $isv-vol.ZNNMDATA.ZCONFIG. Tandem
recommends that you study this file before you create your own site-specific CONFIG
file. The comments in this file provide helpful information about its operations.
Note If you use this file, note that the names of the application program files exclude the process creation hint
numbers described in Section 11, “Configuring the Processing Environment.” If you use a CONFIG file,
be sure that the name of the application process program file, specified by the PARAM
PROCESSOBJECT command, matches the actual file name, which may have been changed to include
process creation hints.
This appendix contains three sample CONFIG file segments, as follows:
A sample CONFIG file segment with process definitions for a basic mode
configuration
A sample CONFIG file segment with process definitions for an extended basic
mode configuration
A sample CONFIG file segment with process definitions for an advanced mode
configuration
The samples show realistic configurations for each operating mode, but the
configuration attributes for the processes defined in these samples may not be
appropriate to your installation. For example, the process names and relative process
priorities used in these samples are realistic for each process type and process class:
your site, however, may use different process naming conventions and different
process priorities than those used in these samples. Use these samples, therefore, only
as guidelines when you are defining your own site-specific CONFIG file.
Additionally, these samples do not show how to define the name and location of files
and subvolumes, and how to define DSNM processes.
See Section 3, “Configuring NonStop NET/MASTER MS,” for complete instructions
about creating and using a CONFIG file, and for examples showing how to define the
name and location of files and subvolumes. See Section 11, “Configuring the
Processing Environment,” for information about the PARAM commands used to
define NonStop NET/MASTER MS and DSNM processes.
