Security exit processes. These processes determine whether a user has sufficient
command authority to use a Guardian utility and members of the utility’s
command set.
The processes that implement use of NonStop NET/MASTER MS, which are
collectively called “NonStop NET/MASTER MS application processes,” run as
persistent processes. If a persistent process fails, NonStop NET/MASTER MS
automatically restarts a new copy of the process. There are five classes of NonStop
NET/MASTER MS application processes:
The background services (BK) process class. This class performs many tasks,
including the execution of some kinds of automated operations and important
NCL procedures.
The event management services (EM) process class. This class supports the
interface to EMS and provides the processing environment in which EMSPROC
executes.
The inter-system services (IS) process class. This class supports INMC, ISR, and
ROC.
The multi-user services (MS) process class. This class provides the interactive user
environment for NonStop NET/MASTER MS operations and NCL procedure and
panel description file development.
The NonStop NET/MASTER MS consolidated services (NC) process class. This
class combines the functions of the BK, EM, IS, and MS classes in a mode that
requires less memory, fewer executing processes, and reduced disk space.
If an MS process fails while a user is logged on, NonStop NET/MASTER MS
automatically logs the user off, restarts the MS process, and displays the logon screen
on the user’s terminal screen.
If a BK or EM process fails, NonStop NET/MASTER MS automatically restarts the
background processing environments.
All classes of application processes are usually started from the same program object
file.
For additional information about these processes, see Section 11, “Configuring the
Processing Environment.”
