Summary of Startup
Procedures
Table 2-1 summarizes the procedures used to start NonStop NET/MASTER MS and
groups them into six phases. Detailed discussions of each phase appear throughout
the remainder of this section.
Table 2-1. Summary of Installation and Startup Procedures
Installation and Startup Procedures Summary of Tasks in Each Procedure
Phase 1: Perform initial
installation tasks.
Verify you have the hardware and software required to use
NonStop NET/MASTER MS, and secure product files.
Phase 2: Start NonStop
NET/MASTER MS.
Log on with the Guardian user ID that will own NonStop
NET/MASTER MS processes; verify that manager processes
of subsystems you want to control are executing; run NCP
program; and run NNM program.
If NonStop NET/MASTER MS fails to start, solve startup
problems and reinstall (see “Solving Startup Problems” and
“Reinstalling NonStop NET/MASTER MS,” later in this
section).
Phase 3: Add a user ID definition
record for a
security administrator.
Replace supplied INSTALL user ID definition record with a
user ID definition record of your own, and configure new user
ID definition record for security administration.
Phase 4: Add a user ID definition
record for an operator.
Add second user ID definition record, and configure this one
for basic operations; exit NonStop NET/MASTER MS.
Phase 5: Log on to NonStop
NET/MASTER MS.
Log on to NonStop NET/MASTER MS with a user ID that
has the authority to access the OCS window.
Phase 6: View status of the NonStop
NET/MASTER MS
environment.
Move to OCS window; view a summary of the NonStop
NET/MASTER MS environment; view a list of executing
processes; and view configuration information about the
executing processes.
You do not need to perform all six phases each time you start NonStop NET/MASTER
MS. Most phases apply only to particular startup scenarios. Using Table 2-2,
determine which scenario best describes your own, and follow the instructions for the
applicable phases.
