5. Run the NCP program by issuing the following RUN command at the TACL
prompt:
20> RUN $
isv-vol
.ZNNM.NCP / NAME $
p
NNM, NOWAIT, TERM
home-term,
CPU
cpu
/
backup-cpu
The following example starts NonStop NET/MASTER MS using the default
startup configuration:
$USER ZNNM 20> RUN NCP / NAME $ZNNM, NOWAIT, TERM $OSP, CPU 0/1
The NCP program starts the NCP. You must specify a process name. To use the
default startup configuration, specify a process name of $ZNNM. A NonStop
NET/MASTER MS system uses the first character of the NCP name (the process
character) to name other processes and files that belong to the system. A system
also uses the process character to form the default names of processes and files
that the system uses. See “Running the NCP Program,” later in this section, for
additional information about the use of the process character.
You must specify a number for both the primary and the backup CPU. If the CPU
numbers are different, the NCP runs as a nonstop process pair; if the CPU
numbers are the same, the NCP runs without a backup process. See “Running the
NCP Program,” later in this section, for additional information about specifying
CPUs.
The NOWAIT and TERM run options are recommended. See “Running the NCP
Program,” later in this section, for additional information about run options.
The NCP starts all other processes in a NonStop NET/MASTER MS system. By
default, NonStop NET/MASTER MS starts in basic mode. See Section 11,
“Configuring the Processing Environment,” for a discussion of basic mode and the
processes started by the NCP.
6. If you want to monitor the progress of the NCP as it starts other NonStop
NET/MASTER MS processes, repeatedly issue the following command:
STATUS *,USER,TERM
After the NCP has started all other NonStop NET/MASTER MS processes in basic
mode, your screen resembles the following display:
$USER ZNNM 21> STATUS *,USER,TERM
